Shamanic practices and modern psychology might seem worlds apart, yet they share striking parallels in the pursuit of healing. Shamanism, with its ancient roots, views healing as a holistic process—addressing the mind, body, and spirit as interconnected. Modern psychology, while more clinical, also seeks to understand and heal the mind, particularly through therapeutic techniques like cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness.
What makes shamanism unique is its recognition of the unseen—energies, archetypes, and spiritual realms. In contrast, psychology tends to focus on the conscious mind, although approaches like Jungian analysis touch on deeper, archetypal layers.
Both systems, however, recognise the importance of self-awareness and confronting hidden aspects of ourselves. By blending ancient wisdom with modern techniques, we invite a more holistic approach to mental health, one that honours not just the mind, but the spirit as well. This integration offers a fuller, more compassionate way to heal, inviting us to reconnect with the wisdom of our ancestors while benefiting from contemporary insights.
Holistic healing, after all, comes from addressing the whole person, not just their symptoms. Our Introduction to Shamanism course is a first step in this journey here.
