At Embracing Shamanism principle teacher, Twobirds teaches a Lakota style sweatlodge, as she was trained by the Lakota people. A Lakota style sweat lodge is a type of Native American sweat lodge that follows the traditions of the Lakota people. It typically involves constructing a small, dome-shaped lodge out of natural materials such as saplings, blankets, and canvas, and then heating stones in a fire outside of the lodge. The heated stones are then brought inside the lodge and placed in a pit in the center. Water is poured over the hot stones, creating steam and heat that fills the lodge. Participants sit inside the lodge in a circle, often in complete darkness, and participate in prayers, songs, and rituals led by a sweat lodge leader or spiritual guide. The Lakota style sweat lodge is considered a sacred ceremony and is often used for purification, healing, and spiritual connection. Learn more about sweatlodge training here.
