Shamanic journeying is a practice used in shamanism to enter a state of consciousness and connect with the spiritual realm to gain insights, healing, and guidance. At Embracing Shamanism we teach the shamanic journey as part of our Introduction to Shamanism weekend workshop.
Here are the basic steps to start a shamanic journey:
Create a sacred space: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you will not be disturbed, and create a sacred space by lighting candles, burning incense or sage, and setting an intention for your journey.
Enter a state of consciousness: You can enter a state of conciousness by using repetitive drumming, rattling, or chanting. You can also use guided meditations or shamanic journeying music to help you enter a trance state.
Connect with your power animal: In shamanic journeying, the power animal is an important spiritual ally that guides and protects you. Call upon your power animal to join you on your journey.
Journey to the spiritual realm: Visualise a path or opening that leads you to the spiritual realm. Trust your intuition and follow your power animal to the spiritual realm.
Explore the spiritual realm: Once you reach the spiritual realm, you can explore, ask for guidance or healing, or receive messages from the spiritual beings you encounter.
Return from your journey: When you are ready to return from your journey, thank your power animal and the spiritual beings you encountered, and follow the same path or opening to return to your physical body.
It’s important to remember that shamanic journeying can take practice and patience, and the experiences can vary from person to person. You may not receive a clear message or vision on your first try, but with practice, you can develop a deeper connection with the spiritual realm and receive valuable insights and guidance
